Kalmar intermodal reachstacker delivered to combi-terminal in Switzerland

The Kalmar DRF450 series reachstacker with a wheelbase of 7500mm was refurbished thoroughly in our dedicated workshop in Hamburg prior to delivery. Among other things a brand new particle-filter system was installed to ensure a minimum of exhaust pollution.

The customer sent 4 people from its own technical- and quality department and a thorough hand-over was performed. The Kalmar unit was selected due to its excellent condition and low hours of usage.

The unit was dismantled in 5 pieces in our workshop in Hamburg, and subsequently sent by road on heavy-capacity low-loaders through the Alps. The dismantling in 5 pieces was necessary to attain the correct weight and size in order to pass through the Alps, where heavy road construction work is going on. Due to traffic restrictions around Brenner the equipment was 2 weeks underway to its final destination.

Once on-site in Switzerland the basic Kalmar unit was re-assembled by our trained specialists with the assistance of two mobile-cranes from a local supplier, and put into immediate intermodal container-handling operation. The unit will run on a full-service contract for the next many years – also handled by UnikTruck. Yet another example of our wide and deep competence when it comes to specialized heavy-duty lifting.
